Stars Supernova in 2.5 months??
Call me crazy, but I'm going for it. I started on Stars in mid to late October and ramped up my play in the last 2 weeks.. I'm at 6700 right now, year to date.. But over winter break, I can play like 10 hours a day.. That should amount to 3500 hands a day, which should be good for 2K points/day at platinum level.. So I can get 60K points in December.
Which means I need 34K from now til the end of November.. That's about 55K hands in 24 days.. So an average of 2300 hands a day. That's about 40 hours a week. I think I can swing that if I get in about 15 hours a weekend..
I'm just afraid I'm gonna hit a wall between now and the end of the run...

Good luck! That's a lot of poker. Just keep in mind that in order to maintain supernova status next year you need to play at a platinum level every month except one during that calender year.

Re: Stars Supernova in 2.5 months??
Platinum each month shouldn't be a problem.. As a Supernova, even at 100 max that's only about 12,000 hands a month.. That's 2 hours a day for 20 days of 4-tabling...

Re: Stars Supernova in 2.5 months??
I don't think it's possible to get Supernova in 2.5 months. Remember FPPs and VPPs accumulate differently. At Gold you get 2 FPPs for every VPP earned, but only the 1 VPP goes towards increasing you're VIP level. Right now I've earned about 16k VPPs but I've already used 25k FPPs to get an IPOD and I have over 7k FPPs in my account. So I've gotten 16k VPPs and I've played over 40K hands, half of those at 100nl. Playing 100NL it would take about 250,000 hands to get 100,000 VPPs. That's a lot of hands in 2 months. On my long days when I put 5 hours of play I only get about 2100 hands. It would take a lot of 8, 9 hour days to get to Supernova.

Re: Stars Supernova in 2.5 months??
I forgot the difference between VPPs and FPPs... Whats the hands to VPPs ratio like in the 200 NL check? So far in November I have 2,718 VPPs in 5,815 hands..
I'm 93,000 short of Supernova.. So it'd be about 200,000 hands in 55 days or 3700 hands and 10 hours a day.
Probably not happening.. I was counting on the extra bonus of PlatinumStar, but didn't realize the difference between VPPs and FPPs..
But if I can earn them faster in 200NL...

Re: Stars Supernova in 2.5 months??
Just curious. Is playing this many hands in a month enjoyable?

Ask me at the end of December..
I'm guessing after a few weeks it won't be lol.. But I have consistently played 40 hours a week before and didn't mind it..

Re: Stars Supernova in 2.5 months??
Earlier I played 570 hands and got about 380 VPPs at 1/2. So it's about 2 VPPs for every 3 hands played. But this will also go up when you play more hands, and you play more hands than me so you can get more VPPs. Either way it will take a huge number of hands in 2 months to get it.
10oD, it depends on you. Playing at stakes that the money I make is significant to me I can play for long stretches. When I was forced to grind back up from 50nl, I barely had the urge to play, I had to force myself to play. Then once I moved up to 100NL, I enjoyed playing more usually getting 3 hours a day in, now at 1/2 I am playing about 5 hours a day, which 4 tabling I can get 1500+ hands in. I'm not sure I will ever play much more than 5 hours a day because I don't like eating while I play, I also ordered NBA League Pass, so I put it to use and watch games. I also find time to hang out with friends, I can't sit in front of the PC and put in 10 hours of poker playing. While it might be profitable I don't want to be a hermit. But some people all that matters is the money and playing 3000+ hands a day is a lot of fun to them.

Re: Stars Supernova in 2.5 months??
I might have to give up. Even at 1/2 NL I won't make it without killing myself. And I'd like to play at Turning Stone a lot over break, and this wouldn't allow me to do that.
I expect to move up to 1/2 the first week of December (right around when I should hit 8-10K in the roll).. So if I average 6 hours a day throughout the month, I'll get 124,000 FPPs.. I have 14K now, should make 18-25K more this month.. So I'll be close to my 50" plasma TV anyway .. I should be able to get it by the first week in January, then get an iPod before the end of January and start saving for my next big FPP purchase..

Re: Stars Supernova in 2.5 months??
I used to do a lot of bonus chasing and stars is one of my favorite. Whenever there is a bonus I tried to get it done in a day most of the time. A $100 bonus means 500fpp, to me that's a little fewer than 1000 hands (3 tabling usually) Each time I finished a bonus I couldn't wait to get away from my computer and won't play for a day or so. I just can't imagine I do this consistently everyday
