I think it'd be cool if there were regular freerolls, however long in between.. But some open to regulars only.. And some open to more people. I don't want to say anyone, as obviously the point is to bring people to the site.. But maybe the stipulation would be that the winners don't get the prize money until they start contributing.. Hopefully after reading/posting a little they want to stay.
To tie in, I think it'd be cool if we had like player of the year/month points from the freerolls.. Since a lot of it for the regulars is bragging rights, keeping track tourney to tourney would be a lot of fun. Or maybe just pick a one month period during the year to have a few tournaments and keep points then and do mutliple games, not just NL Hold 'Em..
Maybe I'm just wishing for my own WSOP style event to compete in, but it'd be fun I think...

Great suggestions cuse, thank you! The boss and I were just talking the other day about having a fixed schedule for the freerolls, and publishing it so everyone knows.
The idea of "regulars" freerolls is a damn good idea. As you know that's where we started in the first place and I think it's something well worth pursuing.
The points thing should be pretty straightforward.
Definitely some good ideas for us to chew on. Thanks again.

I like the idea, However I also like small communities where the freeroll isnt packed with hundreds of players.

Still think a head to head would be cool. Could be run over a period of time and it would only take the two people getting together. Times could be agreed apon and others could watch. JMO

Anything further on this?

First step is the scheduled freerolls and that should be coming very soon. The other things --H2Hs, points, etc-- are going to be longer term things.

An introduction section as in a place to introduce yourself? or a place to get introduced to the game?

I guess anything will be good. I just want the chance to play some of the posters in here, see if they truely are as good as their posts. ;)

I like the idea of a freeroll league and accumulated points, not sure about head-to-head though. It would also be cool to compile reports on each tournament, such as key hands played, stats etc.

I'm new to the forum and am posting for the first time. I don't quite know how the forum works. Can we get into freerolls at poker sites?
max
Sorry hat, we don't currently offer a listing like that. We do hold freerolls for PokerForum.com members though, we try for at least one a month. We announce those here in this forum.

Havent' heard of any January freerolls - maybe we'll have one this February? I was only able to play in the inaugural event and haven't been around for one since.
I know there are several sites which allow you to launch your own tournaments etc. I was re-reading this thread and the head to head idea really excited me.
I'd be happy to set up a little H2H tournament. Maybe a quick round robin then to a championship tree finally awarding a winner. I'm sure I could drum up some prizes as well.
What do you think Max? Anyone else? I don't want to overstep any boundaries. Just beat some of the regulars :)

Go for it! As you know we've been trying to set up a regular tournament schedule but that's proving a little trickier than expected. (It's coming, it's just taking a little time to do it right.)
In the meantime anyone wanting to set up an event for the membership is welcome to do so.
