View Thread : Technicality that cost me T$150

So it's the bubble of a $8+R, top 14 get T$150...15 remaining. I'm watching the other table. One of the other short stacks goes allin, gets a caller and busts. I'm on the button with QQ, I figure I already made the cut, so I push.
Get two callers, the BB makes her flush and busts me. Now because the play was hand for hand, the fact that the short stack at the other table busted before me was not taken into account. I ended up finishing 15th, because at the time that the other short stack went all in, she had a bigger stack than me.

What a fcking btch! All I had to do was fold and collect T$150.

Why the hell would you push???? You fold, it's over, you get T$150.

DahdeKing
I pushed cause I thought it did not matter anymore...

Top 14 all got the exact same amount?

That's why they play hand for hand in those situations. All hands start at the same time, and regardless of which hands finish first, they are played like they finish at the same time. If two people are eliminated in the same hand, it doesn't matter which hand finished 1st, the player with the most money at the start of the hand gets the higher finish.

Cruddy way to learn the rule, but now you know.

This happened in a B&M tourney I was dealing in last night. 11 players left, top 10 get paid.

Short Stack to my left is thinking about calling all his chips. I can hear that behind us, at the other table, a player just got eliminated. All this guy has to do is fold, and pick up 10th place. So naturally, he pushes with no pair, no draw (except for two over cards, which turn out to be dominated), and gets eliminated. After the hand, THEN he asks if he's in the money. It turns out that he was, but that was just a happy accident, since God looks out for the clueless.
