Now i'm all for being an aggressive player when the situation warrents aggression...but lately, on the button, I have been getting a large amount of raiseable hands, preflop, and most of the time it's when the action has been folded around to me. After a couple of times the sb and bb are obviously thinking "button keeps raising when action is folded to him - he must be stealing more often than not," when this is really not the case. Now I do make a steal every now and again, don't get that twisted, but once the sb and bb get this opinion about me they start to come over the top with ludicrous amounts, all in even, and make my once raiseable hands preflop seem less worthy of calling a reraise or an all in. Now I know that most of the time when this happens they're just pushing back at what they think is a push from me, so I don't lose that much confidence in the fact that I have the best starting hand, but I haven't found a way that I really like to react to this well and am looking for other's thoughts on the subject.
An example: dealt JsJc on the button, action folded to me (should mention that the last five orbits, literally five - not an overexaggeration, action had been folded to me on the button and i made a raise with either a decent-good suited ace/mid pp/mid-high suited connectors), playing 1/2, raised it up to $8, sb reraised the minimum, bb mucks, i called, flop comes 8s2h3d, he checks, i bet pot ($30), he calls, turn 4s, i bet $50, he calls, river comes Ad, he checks, i check, he flips over 25s for the wheel. Now granted he did have outs for a runner runner flush draw, 5 for two pair, 2 for trips, and obv the runner runner straight...but what's with that minimum raise preflop? I'm thinking he didn't believe I was strong and thought that a minimum raise on his part would show strength in his hand - like yea, i'm raising, but just the minimum because I want you to call.
