View Thread : 0.02/0.04 and 0.05/0.10 games, major difference?

I recently went on a promotion

and got $50 for free.. i worked it up to $161 now..
this is at party poker and I play on 0.02/0.04

But.. is it time to move up to next table? Or should i keep playing 0.02/0.04?

My play style has been mostly tight, any pairs, slicks, I'll call.
if i'm late position, then any same suited connectors i'll limp in etc etc.

I don't think there will be any difference between the .02/.04 and the .05/.1 games. You have $161 in your bankroll and that's plenty for these micro games. Try to read a book or two and move to bigger games.

XintuXintu
so moving up to 0.05 shouldnt' be an issue

most of the games will be like..
but the pots will double though eh?

Are we talking limit or NL?

What's the difference? If he won over $100, four cents at a time, he's ready to move up to the ten-cent game. ;)

Go ahead and take a shot at a higher game. What's the worse thing that can happen, you lose $50?

People treat $50 bankrolls like it was a million, and million-dollar bankrolls like they're nothing.

cuse522
Well I was going to tell him if it's limit, he should be playing .25/.50, that's a 300BB roll... And if it's NL, $10 buy-in, which I think is .05/.10 blinds..

XintuXintu
naw i'm playing No-limit

i find limit games too boring,

haha i just a buy in to KK vs a AA

flop 2 5 7 rainbow
turn 9
river J

he had AA, and I had KK. wow 10 gone, then i immediately won $10 from someone else with a set of J's. Intense games haha

But I still feel uneasy for some reason, probably the reason is because the higher bets, i'm not used to it.. but you think I will eventually overcome this? Or should I just keep working on it.

It isn't unusal to feel uneasy after moving all-in No matter what level it is. That's why I play limit. I think you'll be fine. $10 is just a small portion of your bankroll. You have to learn how to handle the up and downs if you want to continue to play poker. :)

Yeah, if winning or losing $10 is causing you duress, you might as well quit now. You'll never get any enjoyment out of this game.

I agree with Bobby, eventhough you just started $10 is not a lot of money to anybody. If it bothers you to lose 10 bucks you should reconsider if you even should be playing poker. The key to being a good poker player is not having the fear of losing and just making the correct plays (or what you deem to be correct) whether it's for 10 bucks or 2000, if you have KK vs. AA not much you can do, it's like set over set.

When I first started, losing $10 or $20 caused me some duress... And now I'm throwing it all in on bluffs without worry.. You can still eventually get over the money and just play.

I am with cuse here. You can learn how to handle losing. How long it will take is depend on the person though.

I'm thinking of just 8 table'ing 0.05/0.10 games like i did with the 0.02/0.04

folding and playing with only good hands while only limping with some connectors if i'm in late position and occasional small bluff bet.

BEsides from the point where I will lose a lot of BB's, this should still work at the $0.10 level right?

I play at the moment for play money on party too. Im keen to shortly take the plunge and try micro games to start. When i click on the options the lowest i see on party is 0.1/0.25.

where do you go to play those micro games?

bumlife
there isnt big difference...you can try 0.5/0.10 or 0.10/0.20
sit on the table with maximum money allowed(if you have big bankroll) and just play your game

Kid_Aaron
look at BEGGINERS :) there are the micro games ;)

AGREE! if you have 50$ bankroll and you want to play cash you must sit on
0.5/0.10 or 0.10/0.20 and you must sit with 10$ maximum so if you lose you have 40$ left and 4 more chances to play and win :)

and dont worry if you lose the money...this are just 50$ ....everyone can get 50$ right now with no deposit bonuses and play with the money

Thanx i found em. When looking at the lists it looked like the begginers section was under 7 card stud. A bit more practice and ill be taking the plunge. I know it'll only be very small money but theres a start.
