"I have a question about texas holdem poker. My friend has 6 of hearts, 7 of
diamonds and I have a 9 of hearts and a 10 of diamonds.

The community cards are ace, 3, 4, 5 of hearts and the 10 of clubs.

Is the pot split or do I win because I have a higher heart even though we share the ace in the community?

You win.

The higher heart flush drags the pot.

In Texas hold'em you can use just one of your hole cards to make your best five card hand. In fact, you can even just play the five community cards on the board as your best five card hand.

Just remember the 5 cards rule. When playing hold-em the best hand counting any 5 cards is the winner. This includeds just using the 5 cards on the board or any cards in your hand.
